Husqvarna was founded in 1689 in Sweden. Sir Erik Dahelbergh made a suggestion to the Swedish king at the time in terms of developing machine processing and weapon production in the plant located on the waterfalls on the edge of Huskvarna county. The plant used energy generated from water mill, thus making a dam to control continuous water supply in Jönköping. At first, they were producing musketries, old guns which were loaded with gunpowder by hand. As production was growing and Husqvarna accepted various jobs, one part of the plant, specialized for guns, was separated and in 1867 named Husqvarna Vapen fabrics Aktiebolag.
In 1870 Husqvarna started the production of guns and shotguns. Since the wars were almost finished and job demand greater, business widening was unavoidable. First sewing machines, bicycles with three teeth logo were born and in 1903 Husqvarna made their first motorcycle.
Business was branched as well as parts of a company by different activities. Meaning, Husqvarna AB became specialized for chainsaws, trimmers, lawnmowers, tractors etc. Branching happened in 1897 20 years after production of sewing machines, which were their main product for many years, started.
Production of mowers has begun side by side with a production of water heaters in 1918. Husqvarna is most known for their chainsaws. They introduced them in the late 1950s, precisely 1959. Production and selling were going so well that in only 10 years they expanded on to Great Britain, Australia, and Germany.
