The 2020 Rally Show Santa Domenica was due to take place 27 – 29 November in Sveta Nedelja and Savršćak-Samobor in Zagreb County of Croatia, the traditional home of the event. The rally, which is one of the biggest annual sporting event in this region.
Following the situation with the coronavirus pandemic all summer, we lived in the hope that the 11th RSSD would still take place. But September came when the situation started to get complicated again.
There are less than two months left until this year’s RSSD, and the uncertainty is growing. As the situation regarding Covid-19 in Croatia and internationally isn’t improving, there are too many ongoing factors regard to health and safety risks with organizing RSSD.
Together with the unknown progress of Covid-19 during the winter, there are other major uncertainties affecting this decision. For example, the lack of information on whether current restrictions imposed by the state on public events will continue, and how foreign participants, teams, and spectators will be able to safely travel to Croatia. The fact that RSSD takes place in a small limited area where a large number of spectators and teams are moving around has further strengthened the belief that we need to focus on the next 2021 year.
“Even though we had already made some preparations with the possible postponing of 2020 RSSD in mind, it’s clear that the decision was not an easy one to make. This naturally is devastating news for all of us, in many different ways. By postponing the event this year, we want to show responsibility towards each and everyone involved as well as the whole society. Health and well-being are always a priority. We will confidently move our focus into 2021 when we will finally be able to organize the 11th RSSD in an amazing atmosphere and in great spirits together with the spectators, competitors as well as our long-term and new partners” – says Chairman of organizing committee, Daniel Vojvodić.
“We have thought and weighed for a long time about this difficult decision to postpone the event. We also investigated many other options for running the event this year and have contacted our fellow organizers and competitors in the neighborhood with whom we have been cooperating for years. But after evaluating the number of unknowns and risks, unfortunately, directed us to postpone to 2021. We would like to thank all the volunteers who are already committed to the event and have been working alongside our professional organizing team ever since last autumn – we will get through this and come back next year even stronger and better” – Clerk of the Course Daut Damarija adds.
The organizer of RSSD, AKK Sveta Nedelja, and Technical Co-organizer, AK Delta Timing-Zagreb confirmed that the 11th RSSD will take place 26-28 November 2021.
We’ll see you last weekend in November 2021!!!
Until then, be responsible to yourself and those around you!
