The 11th Rally Show Santa Domenica winner is Simon Wagner with co-driver Pia Sumer in a Škoda Fabia Rally2 EVO. Wagner had a 3.9-second lead over second-placed Beppe Harrach and Dominik Jahn in the Ford Fiesta Rally2. Third place went to Gerald Rigler with co-driver Claudia Maier in a Ford Fiesta R5 EVO with a lag of 53.8 seconds behind Beppe Harrach.
This is Simon Wagner’s second appearance on RSSD. He made his debut in 2018 when he also won the podium’s top step with a spectacular ride on wet macadam. After the rally, delighted with the atmosphere at the RSSD, he promised to come again. And he kept his promise. “Santa Domenica has been very successful for my team and me this year as well. The organization and the race itself are phenomenal, and I am sure I will be back again. I am glad for the success of the other Austrian crews as well.” Simon told us.
Four-time RSS winner Beppo Harrach led after the 2nd special stage, but Simon Wagner managed to catch up on the 3rd special stage and take the lead in just 4.4 seconds. In the 4th special stage, they both started fiercely and with a great desire to win. Still, Simon Wagner was more successful, and Beppo Harrach had to settle for 2nd place.
Gerald Rigler, led by the safe hand of Claudie Maier, managed to defend himself from the attack of Maximilian Koch from Germany and, in just 3.0 seconds, won the third step of the podium. With an attractive drive and winning fourth place in the overall standings, Maximilian Koch and his co-driver Lisa Brunthaler in a Škoda Fabia Rally2 marked their first appearance on the RSSD. We hope he comes again. After a year break, RSSD has successfully closed the 2021 rally season and confirmed its status as the most visited and most successful rally in the area. Many fans of this beautiful sport enjoyed the attractive performances of top drivers.
See you in 2022.
