The winner of the 12th Rally Show Santa Domenica 2022 is Róbert Bútor with co-driver Gergely Makai in a Citroen C3 WRC.
This year’s edition of the famous Rally Show Santa Domenica was uncertain until the very end.
Saturday’s Shakedown ended with Simon Wagner in the Škoda Fabia R5 in the first place, giving Wagner the best choice of starting position for Sunday. He was followed by Róbert Bútor in a Citroen C3 WRC and Péter Ranga in a Škoda Fabia R5, which suggested that the outcome of Sunday’s sprinters would be precarious until the very end.
That’s exactly what happened. In the first special stage, Bútor took the lead over Wagner, who then crashed out of the race in the second special stage, flipping his car onto its roof. Ranga took second place, followed by Slovenian driver Aljoša Novak in a Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo. On the third special stage, Novak was overtaken by Hungarian Sasa Ollé in a Škoda Fabia R5 with a 13-second lead. Through the fourth special stage, Ollé managed to be faster than Ranga and took second place. Despite all the twists and turns throughout the day, Róbert Bútor kept the leading position and thus became the winner of the 12th edition of the RSSD. Sasa Ollé was second with a total of 10.9 seconds behind, and Péter Ranga faltered in his attempt to win the gravel again, settling for third place.
This year’s edition of RSSD was marked by octane, gravel, surprises, and good weather, which was confirmed by the fact that the tracks of Savrščak were visited by thousands of spectators who enjoyed the race itself and additional content. The weekend was doubtful until the end, and the media could not resist the uncertainty because about a hundred representatives visited and covered the competition.
RSSD 2022 was successfully concluded with the award ceremony, with many happy and satisfied competitors and visitors, as well as everyone involved in the organization. Preparations for RSSD 2023 begin. See you next year.
